Our Story

Jenan is a business built at home, by a mama of two who has lived through the vulnerable, wondrous phase of new motherhood - twice. Our dresses are designed to earn full marks on breathability, but also on something most brands overlook entirely: flexibility.

When I entered postpartum life, I couldn't find a dress that was breathable, covered enough, and built for everything I needed to do in it. I wasn't just a mother - I was someone stepping out into the world to make even a small difference, to get things done, in and out of the house, who simply wanted to feel comfortable in her own skin while her body was changing in new ways. I needed something that worked when relatives and friends came to visit, too - without ever asking me to sacrifice comfort, or my ability to feed my baby whenever she needed me.

So that's what we created.

Every dress is designed with intentionality, made in partnership with fair-wage suppliers, because the women who craft our clothes deserve the same care we put into designing them. We exist to create space for Muslim mothers - whose needs through life's changes haven't been given enough consideration by Western fashion. A space where your needs come first, always.

The name Jenan comes from the same root as Jannah - paradise - which we believe lies beneath the feet of the mother. It's a position no company, no title, and no worldly achievement can grant her. Motherhood is a chapter she carries with her for the rest of her life, and we're here to help make it as beautiful as it deserves to be.

And we're just getting started. Beyond nursing layer dress, we're working toward a fuller range of breathable, modest clothing - designed for every shape, every stage of life, and every girlie who wants to feel as good as she looks.
